Let’s face it! We cannot escape being hurt or wounded in life. It’s simply apart of the human experience. Especially those us us who carry father wounds.
Most of us have experienced heart break, un-met expectations, being abandoned, rejected or even abused at the hands of a loved one. We all know the pain of betrayal and hurt.
While it sometimes can feel unfair, it is imperative that we forgive. Forgiveness is the entry way to a brand new tomorrow. Forgiveness has immense power to transform our lives as we know it.
Forgiveness is more about you, than the person who wounded you. And it helps to remember that people only hurt others when they themselves are in pain. As we recognize the other person’s suffering, our hearts can open in compassion.
We can also remember that at some time or another, we too have hurt someone through our own actions and we too seek forgiveness.
As we practice the art of forgiveness, we are releasing the past and creating a joy-filled, brighter and bigger future for ourselves and our world.
Remember, what Paul Boese said, “Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.”
