On April 20, 2016, eight brave women sat in front of a camera to share their truths. The truth of growing up as a fatherless daughter. Pushing beyond their pain and shattering their shame, these women bared their souls about what it felt like to be abandoned, ignored, and forgotten by a father who was supposed to love them. By embracing the courage to relive what they believed were some of the most painful times in their lives, these women have now become a part of our movement to help fatherless women awaken to the truth of who they are and reclaim their worth and rewrite a new narrative for their lives.

The Making of a Fatherless Daughter is a simple film filled with a powerful and rich message. The film was created with two intentions and that is to elevate the awareness of the negative impact that fatherlessness has on a female’s life and to demonstrate the truth that fatherless daughters are not born fatherless, but they are made fatherless through no fault of their own.

The Making of a Fatherless Daughter also features experts, psychologists, and clinical therapists who will share many of the negative impacts that fatherlessness has on a female’s life, it’s devastating emotional effects and what women can do to start their journey of transformation, healing and freedom. Audiences will learn how deep family secrets can literally create sabotaging barriers and blocks in a woman’s life and prevent her from thriving if not confronted and addressed. The Making of a Fatherless Daughter gives true meaning and life to Angela Carr Patterson’s quote (executive producer) “Once exposed our secrets lose their power. Once shared from our hearts, we gain our freedom.”

This life changing documentary also includes powerful messages from fathers from the fatherhood movement, who work daily to help men become more engaged in their children’s lives. These expert fathers will offer a new perspective on fatherhood to help us understand why dads tend to abandon their daughters, as well as their thoughts on how we can come together to change this deep community wound.  After the viewing of the film, our Fatherless Daughter Advocates and local community leaders will engage in a “Soulful Conversation” with the audience to discover solutions to an issue that’s been ignored much too long.  The Making of a Fatherless Daughter Documentary film is a story of hope against insurmountable odds. It’s also a story of how love, acceptance and forgiveness can heal the pain of brokenness and rewrite this tragic story of fatherlessness.
